Gather ‘Round

My fiancé and I have family members who are scattered throughout the country—they live in California, Colorado, Oregon, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and so on. This past July, we all gathered to create a truly one-of-a-kind his + hers wedding shower.

Together, we brought to life our very own fiesta-themed event. Almost every aspect of the day was DIY: my mom, sister and cousins scouted out and potted forty (very prickly) cacti for centerpieces and favors; my future mother-in-law, my aunt and I created gorgeous Southern California-inspired floral arrangements; my uncle and fiancé curated a craft cocktail menu. The list goes on. We spent the most wonderful few days leading up to the shower bringing our fiesta to life, and creating memories that will last us a lifetime. Read all about it on Flutter’s blog.

This is what I love so much about small gatherings. Whether it’s a wedding (p. 45), cocktail hour (p. 37), dinner party, or even bachelorette party (p. 83), it’s the idea of the people and the elements all coming together with open hearts and hands to make the event a truly special occasion.

With Autumn right around the corner, Issue No. 11 shares ideas that are rich in warmth and intimacy, and recipes that feature the season’s most heart-fluttering harvest (p. 93). Here’s to the hostess with the mostess and her festive family affairs to come!
