Orchids, succulents, and protea — oh my!
This decadent brunch inspiration shoot is one for the books. From unexpected florals, to the on-trend mix of vintage and industrial decor, to the beautiful La Rousse glass keepsake boxes, these photos have positively set our hearts aflutter (and don’t get us started on those delectable donuts!). Did I mention heirloom prints, artisan jewelry, and delightful stationery? Scroll on for all the pretty details to inspire your next gathering!
From the photographer, Kate Doherty:
This doughnut-filled bruncheon was originally inspired by the glass photo boxes from La Rousse Shoppe. The mix of antique gold, tarnished silver, and copper tones were complimented by a modern centerpiece of orchids, succulents, eucalyptus, and protea by Margaret Joan Florals. Though the boxes can be used to store any keepsakes from your wedding day (think dried flowers from the bouquet, a special locket, or a copy of your invitations), they are most often used for prints. The square ones printed here are from Artifact Uprising, who prints images on gorgeously thick, matte recycled paper. Silk and Willow ribbon in a shade called “cinnamon” wrapped the stack of prints in a loose bow.
Studio 110 in downtown Santa Barbara is a cottage-like event studio flooded with natural light and wood floors. It created the perfect simple backdrop for our weathered metal table set with a crisp white linen runner, square plates, and metal chargers from CB2. Other details included the invites and place cards, done in a metallic copper color to repeat the metal theme throughout the tablescape.
We absolutely must not forget about the jewelry from Sofia Kaman Fine Jewels. We knew her line of jewelry would fit the aesthetic of the shoot perfectly. It is modern and unique, and Sofia uses soft metal tones in her collections that put simple twists on timeless pieces. It’s that perfect subtleness that matches the brass details on the La Rousse glass boxes so well. We pulled a set of stacking rings and a twig link signature chain necklace.
Last but not most certainly not least, the doughnuts are hard to miss. These vegan delectables from Donut Friend are topped with ingredients like toasted coconut, lime zest, almonds, blackberries, and fresh mint leaves. Not only did these pastries taste ridiculously good, but they sprinkled the table with pops of color and texture.
A sweet start to the day indeed!
