This past May my mom and sister hosted a baby shower for me in our hometown of New Jersey. When dreaming up the theme of the celebration, I knew I wanted something that was both reflective of my sweet baby boy and my love (and hopefully his!) of nature. We landed on Beatrix Potter and The Tale of Peter Rabbit.
My sister took the reigns on the invitations and worked with our dear friend, Victoria, of Design House of Moira, to design the special suite. The result was a complete surprise to me and one that made my heart flutter times ten!
Victoria brought her own unique touch to the drawing table with a design titled “Mon Petit Lapin” or “My Sweet Little Rabbit.” J’adore! The prettiest hand-illustrated botanical laurel appeared throughout the suite. The suite consisted of three stackable cards, each printed on an earthy shade of velvety smooth cotton rag paper from Porridge Papers. The largest card shared all of the event details, the medium card shared the registry information and the smallest was a darling bookplate for each guest to include with their favorite children’s book for our boy in lieu of a card.
The suite was tied together in organic twine from Silk & Willow, wrapped in sepia-toned vellum, and sealed with a vellum white wax seal from Artisaire. The invites were placed in a vellum envelope printed in a rich hunter green with bits and pieces of the main artwork scattered throughout.
Victoria delivered the suite to me in a gorgeous handmade linen-bound portfolio book with the laurel printed on the front. It’s the most special heirloom keepsake!
I’m so obsessed with the floral laurel illustration that we ended up reusing it as part of the motif for our June Garden & Gather retreat to the English Countryside.
